Mary Griffith Chalupsky was born to Viola (Brown) and Edgar Griffith. She married LaVerne Chalupsky together they raised six children on a farm south of Fairfax, IA. She attended Kirkwood College and studied the Arts.
Mary began writing poetry many years ago and won many awards through the World Poetry Association beginning in 1987 when she won the Golden Poet Award, the Silver Poet Award followed in 1990, and the Editor Choice Awards in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
She has published 12 Children’s Rhyming Pictures Books, called: “Jogger’s Adventures,” A Children’s Book about her very own Bichon puppy called: “The Littlest Puppy,” A Children’s Book about Bullying: “ The Big, Bad, Sad, Mad, Meany,” and an Anthology of 20 short stories about a middle school boy named: “Jimmy’s Adventures.”
Mary was a volunteer in her church and her community for most of her life. She worked in the Medical profession and owned and operated Medical Claims Billing. She is a member of the DAR and the Mayflower Society.
She worked as a freelancer for Eastern Iowa online newspaper, The Arkansas Pacesetting Times, God Makes Lemonade series, and other magazines.
She presently lives in Cedar Rapids, IA with her little dog Buttons, where she enjoys working in her flower gardens, swinging on her front porch, and having coffee with her friends.

About Imagine Other Worlds with Authors
Imagine Other Worlds with Authors (I.O.W.A.), a multi-author, multi-genre book signing event, is the brainchild author Aaron Bunce, a member of Writers Anonymous, a group of word addicts from the Cedar Rapids Metro area and beyond. Our first event was held in 2016 at Lindale Mall in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Join us at this year’s event on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Marion Columbus Club at 5650 Kacena Avenue in Marion, Iowa from 10 AM to 3 PM. The event is free and open to the public.
